Socialism, Theory and Practice

ITIKADI: Socialism, Theory and Practice is published by the Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) as a forum for Marxist-Leninist thought in Kenya and the Eastern African Region.

Our Revolutionary Ideology

The theoretical basis guiding CPK's revolutionary practice

Marxism-Leninism

CPK is grounded in the scientific analysis of society developed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, and further developed by Vladimir Lenin. This theoretical framework provides us with the tools to understand the contradictions of capitalism and the path to socialism.

We believe that history is shaped by class struggle, and that the working class, organized as a revolutionary vanguard, is the force capable of transforming society and ending exploitation.

Pan-Africanism

Pan-Africanism represents the political expression of solidarity among peoples of African descent, recognizing our common history, struggles, and destiny. CPK is committed to the unity of Africa and the African diaspora in the struggle against imperialism and for complete liberation.

We believe that the struggle in Kenya cannot be separated from the broader struggle for African liberation and unity.

Scientific Socialism

Scientific socialism distinguishes itself from utopian socialism by its reliance on scientific analysis of economic and social conditions rather than mere moral appeals. CPK applies this method to understand the specific conditions of Kenyan society and develop appropriate revolutionary strategies.

We believe that socialism is not merely an ideal but a historical necessity arising from the contradictions of capitalism.

Democratic Centralism

Democratic centralism is the organizational principle guiding the internal functioning of CPK. It combines democratic discussion with unified action, ensuring that once decisions are made, all members implement them consistently.

This principle allows the party to function as a cohesive revolutionary force while incorporating the widest possible participation in decision-making.

Our Revolutionary Agenda

Key areas of struggle for the transformation of Kenyan society

Human Rights

Defending and expanding the human rights of all Kenyans, particularly the working class, peasants, women, youth, and marginalized communities.

Economic Development

Advocating for economic policies that prioritize people's needs over profits, including land reform and public ownership of key industries.

Education

Fighting for free, quality education for all. Education must serve the revolutionary transformation of society.

Healthcare

Demanding universal healthcare as a right for all Kenyans. Quality healthcare should not be a privilege for the wealthy.

Environmental Justice

Combating environmental degradation and climate change, which disproportionately affect the poor and working class.

Workers' Rights

Defending the right to organize, fair wages, safe working conditions, and the dignity of all workers.
